To enhance the efficiency of runway operation, Reduced Runway Separation Minima (RRSM) will be implemented at Taipei/Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport from 1 JUN 2025, subject to the procedures and conditions shown hereunder:
-
RRSM may be applied between a departing aircraft and a succeeding landing aircraft or between two successive landing aircrafts on the same runway provided the following conditions exist:
-
During the hours of daylight from 30 minutes after local sunrise to 30 minutes before local sunset;
-
Wake turbulence separation minima shall be applied;
-
Visibility shall be at least 5 KM and ceiling shall not be lower than 1500 FT;
-
Tailwind component shall not exceed 5 KT;
-
Traffic information shall be provided to the flight crew of the succeeding aircraft concerned;
-
The braking action shall not be adversely affected by runway contaminants such as ice, slush, snow and water.
-
Landing clearance may be issued to an arriving aircraft while the runway is still occupied provided that there is reasonable assurance that the following separation distance will exist when the arriving aircraft crosses the runway threshold:
-
Landing aircraft following Landing aircraft
Preceding aircraft has landed and has passed a point at least 2400M from the threshold of the landing runway, is in motion and will vacate the runway without backtracking;
-
Landing traffic following departing traffic
Preceding aircraft is/will be airborne and has passed a point at least 2400 M from the threshold of the landing runway.
-
ATC will provide traffic information when issuing the landing clearance. The following ICAO standard phraseology examples will be used:
-
"(Call sign), preceding B747 landing about to vacate the runway, Runway 05L, wind 050 degrees 11 KT, cleared to land."
-
"(Call sign), departing A330 ahead about to rotate, Runway 23R, wind 230 degrees 6 KT, cleared to land."
